Amazing job at Kagitera School
One of the DfG Musanze’ goals in 2024 was to give a kit to each girl who attended the Kagitega High School and Upper Primary school in northern Rwanda. To achieve this goal the team visited the school 3 times.
In November this goal was achieved with a total distribution of 648 kits.
Each girl received health training and 160 boys were involved in the Men Who Know program.
The team also had the opportunity to conduct interviews with the students who had been using the kits and to obtain feedback.
Some of the comments from the students were:
“I liked the self-defence part [of the health training] to help if someone wants to rape or sudden harassment”
“DfG pads are safe. They do not burn”
“I used to use pieces of my clothes because I could not afford money to buy pads”
“DfG pads are easy to wash”
And from the teachers:
“We were so privileged to attend most of the trainings and our girls have learnt a lot”
The teachers, requested the DfG team, if possible, let other village teachers to attend, and that the Teachers receive kits because they face so many problems.
And from the Principal:
DfG program has come as an opportunity to us. Since our girls started receiving DfG pads, the absences have reduced, they have also stopped using their school uniforms to cover themselves during the period.”
