On 6 October 2026, the Days for Girls Musanze team visited G.S Nyangwe (Groupe Scolaire Saint Dominique Xavio Nyangwe) to distribute Smart Starter Kits and to hold health training sessions. The visit was arranged with the school’s contact person, Rugwizangoga Jean Baptiste, and it was one of our larger distributions: 283 girls each received a kit, and 152 boys also took part in training.
Seven trainers were involved. The girls’ sessions (AWH) were led by Emerance, Leatitia, Grace, Alice and Charles, while the boys’ sessions (MWK) were led by Hushai and Charles. Charles worked in both groups.
The Distribution and Training.
Every girl who attended received her own kit, so 283 girls received 283 kits. The girls were trained in nine sessions, which allowed the team to work with smaller groups and give each group enough the boys were trained separately in three sessions. Including the boys in the programme is important, because when boys understand menstruation, they are more likely to support the girls and less likely to tease them.
The form does not record any extra kits, and the arrival and departure times were left blank.
The team had a good experience at the school. The school administration was friendly, received the team well and gave their time. Teachers and staff also helped with the distribution itself, which made the work smoother. The students were very happy to receive the kits and listened well to the trainers.
The team also noticed that the school has many vulnerable students who badly needed the pads. The team’s feedback was that these students really needed the support, and that many of them could not attend school.
Feedback from the School.
The school’s contact person thanked the team for the big support. He explained that the children will now receive a long-lasting pad, and that the school will save the small amount of money it had been spending on other pads, because its budget was not meeting all the needs.
We appreciate you for giving us this big support. Our children are going to receive a long-lasting pad, we already going to save the little we were spending on other pads. The budget was not meeting all the needs.
